Christmas Means Snow?

Only a couple more days till Christmas and we are looking forward to spending the day in Wanaka on the deck in the sun, with a champagne brunch and BBQ for dinner. It is hard to beat a typical New Zealand Christmas!

People from the Northern Hemisphere seem to think that it is very strange to celebrate Christmas in the summer time. Obviously if you are from somewhere hot then you never even think twice about it. Cardrona - Favourite Photos

We decided to cruise up to Cardrona for their opening day 2010 with our friend Tracey Barclay. As one of Groovstar's team riders, an ex-workmate from our Mt Ruapehu days, and a thoroughly excellent person, she is one of the most fun people to spend a day on the mountain with.

The day dawned cold down in Wanaka as it so often does at the beginning of the season. We seem to get a good month of inversion days in June/July which means that while it is dull, grey, and dreary down in town, you can drive up to the ski areas which are all above the clouds, have a wonderful sunny day skiing or snowb...

Whare Kea - Favourite Photos

Last night I got to thinking (I sound like Carrie from Sex and the City!) about how it has almost been six months since winter hit Wanaka and Queenstown. Thinking about skiing and snowboarding (and all things snow in general) I decided to look back on some of our photos taken throughout the winter season.

We really took a lot of amazing photos over winter – maybe thanks to our tips from Tommy, or maybe just natural talent – who knows? Anyway, I thought that it would be a shame to have them hidden away on our computer for no-one to see, so I decided that I would pick my favourite photos...
