Treble Cone
Go through the 'Welcome To Treble Cone' sign , and you are suddenly confronted with road that seems to go nowhere. In fact what lays ahead of you is a windy and steep switchback drive up a 7km gravel road to the base area at 1260m. Rather than 'Nowhere' you are in fact lead up to what is without a doubt one of the most epic ski areas in New Zealand.
Be warned - the road can get tricky to say the least, I would suggest driving at a very careful pace (some of the pots holes can swallow a small car), chains are a must have accessory, and a parachute could be a pretty good optional extra!
