Gigatown Wanaka - What's it all About?

Gigatown is a competition. It’s a huge competition, between New Zealand towns. So big, that if Wanaka wins, it will open up huge possibilities to everyone who lives here. NZ Snow Tours may finally be able to achieve their goal of “World Snow Tour domination!” Awesome.

The grand prize is to be New Zealand’s first Gigatown, and receive broadband installation at the high speed of 1 gigabit per second. That’s 100 times faster that ultra broadband!

Points are earned by using the town’s hashtag on social media sites. These include Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Flickr, and of course Facebook. Facebook hashtags will only be counted on the town’s Facebook page. Click here for Wanaka’s.

Now, the head honchos are not counting spam hashtags, so make sure your tweets, comments, posts are relevant, legit and make sense. Don’t just hashtag, as it won’t count – just put it in a sentence. Easy.

One last thing, the competition does run over year, so make sure you pace yourself - don’t run outa steam too soon! Thanks for the support and together we can make Wanaka Gigatownwanaka.
