Porters

Porters is located at the southern end of the Craigieburn Range and rises to nearly 2000 metres above sea level. The ski area has great natural snow, regular snow making, and extensive grooming ensuring perfect terrain for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

Porters is the closest ski area to Christchurch, just 96kms and a little over an hours drive from Christchurch International Airport. The Great Alpine Highway takes in some amazing views as it crosses the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps.

Powder at Porters! Powder at Porters! Porters’ leaner facilities are some of the best around – perfect for the whole family. A Ski Mat carpet-lift makes progression for beginners so easy, and the platter lift provides one of the best intermediate slopes for progression in the country. For the more advanced skiers and boarders, two of NZ’s legendary runs, Bluff Face and Big Mama provide the perfect challenge. Big Mama with 620 vertical metres is the longest lift-accessed straight run in the Southern Hemisphere.

The lookout from the top of T-Bar 3 offers spectacular views of the Southern Alps with Lake Coleridge sparkling below. It all starts with snow. Continued investment in snowmaking, snow-fencing and grooming means quality snow conditions are ready when you are.

Recently built, the Porters café and bar provides seating for 120. It's modern, provides superb views over the Torlesse Range, and crucially, is now at car park level. Delicious home-style cooking and superb coffee make it the perfect spot to re-charge your batteries during a busy day skiing.
